Nottingham Rugby came away from the capital with a convincing bonus point victory. After an evenly contested first half, The Archers ran riot in the second period, ultimately crossing the whitewash six times against a London Scottish team that had started the season more strongly than in previous years.

Nottingham, and specifically Ryan Olowefela, were quick off the mark as the full-back scored from first phase ball inside five minutes. Matt Arden, perfect from the tee all night, added the extras. Scottish levelled matters just after the ten minute mark however, as Will Brown capitalised on a mistake by the away side and Alec Lloyd-Seed converted.

The bulk of the remainder of the half lacked major incident at either end as both teams struggled to create any fluency. That was until the 35th minute, however, when a chip from Arden was chased down by David Williams who offloaded to flanker Sam Williams to record his first score for the club, making it 14-7 to Nottingham heading into the break.

Four minutes after the restart Arden extended The Archers’ lead with a penalty after The Exiles were pinged for offside in the middle, but the home side soon narrowed the deficit to three when Noah Ferdinand crossed in the corner and Lloyd-Seed once again slotted.

That was the best it got for Scottish, however, as, on 54 minutes, Sebastian Ferreira powered home following a Jack Dickinson break. Arden added another three from the tee before Sam Williams claimed the bonus point try with just over ten minutes remaining.

Replacement scrum-half Toby Venner cut loose to race in moments later then, with one of the final plays of the game, birthday boy James Cherry put the icing on the cake, with Jai Johal, on for Arden, converting, to make the final score Nottingham 48-14 London Scottish.
