DEPARTMENT: Nottingham Rugby First Team

REPORTING TO: Head Coach

HOURS OF WORK: Full time, including evenings and weekend work

BASED: On-Site at Nottingham Rugby with national travel for games

SALARY: £25 - £30k per annum

Nottingham Rugby was founded in 1877 and we are fiercely proud of our Nottingham roots. We have previously played at Ireland Avenue in Beeston and at Meadow Lane Stadium are now based at Nottinghamshire Sports Club on Holme Road in Lady Bay where we train and play our home games.

Nottingham Rugby currently play in the Championship, the 2nd tier of English Rugby. We have strong links with both Universities based in the City and have an emphasis on developing young talent. Our link with Leicester Tigers, has seen a number of players progress through our pathway to play international rugby.

ABOUT THE JOB:

Nottingham Rugby are recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic Strength & Conditioning Coach to lead the physical performance programme to the Nottingham Rugby first team. Working closely with the Head Coach, the purpose of this role will be to plan, deliver and review the physical development within the first team, with a focus on individual player development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement individualised and team strength & power programmes, including aspects of performance testing.
  • Develop and implement the on-field programme, particularly around warm-ups, speed development and conditioning to align with the technical / tactical programme.
  • Utilisation of GPS data to maximise performance, providing coaches & medical staff with feedback to support the tactical game plan on training and match-days.
  • Collaborate with medical and coaching staff to ensure injury risk is minimized, whilst maximising physical performance.
  • Line manage and mentor the assistant strength and conditioning coach and any interns.
  • Support coaching staff on match-days, including home & away games.
  • Be responsible for the development of other members of the Strength & Conditioning team.
  • Assist the coaching team with the planning of the weekly schedule and delivery of training sessions, using tactical periodisation to maximise performance.
  • Assist the medical staff with individualised Return to Play protocols.

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience of working in a high-performance environment.
  • Excellent knowledge and evidence of constructing and delivering strength, power, speed, conditioning and return to play programmes.
  • Confident, resilient, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to drive a positive, enthusiastic and dynmaic culture.
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Work using initiative and have great communication skills, both written and verbal.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports science or related field
  • Relevant Strength qualification (CSCS, UKSCA, etc.)
  • (Preferred) Master’s degree in sports science or related field.
