Shields might be the young pup in the forward pack, but he has
shown that he can match it with the most seasoned of
professionals.
The Cumbrian-born tighthead has trampled a distinguished path to
Nottingham, having played for the England Counties under-20, and
captained the powerful North England Counties under-20 side.
As a junior he did his part to maintain Sedbergh School's proud
tradition of producing quality players, as it was the same stamping
ground for former England captains Will Carling and Will
Greenwood.
The 21-year-old came through the ranks at Carlisle Rugby Club
before going on to the Newcastle Falcons' Academy.
Shields made 21 appearances for Nottingham in his debut campaign
in 2011/12.
