Vickers Looks Forward to New Season

VickersThe new Greene King IPA Championship season starts in earnest this coming Saturday and Nottingham Rugby's new hooker, Jon Vickers, has said he can't wait for the action to get underway.

Vickers could be in line for his competitive debut against Leeds Carnegie on Saturday after joining from Plymouth Albion in the summer.

With pre-season preparations all but over, Vickers is ready to get the season off to a flyer at the inaugural Greene King IPA Big Rugby Weekend.

He said: "It's been a long time now and the boys are really eager to get out and play our first competitive game.

"It's been a really long pre-season, and, as a squad, we've been getting our principles in place and working hard on being a fit team that works for each other.

"All the players are ready to go hammer and tongs when match day arrives."

The former Plymouth man expects Leeds to pose a difficult test as the two sides meet at Doncaster's Castle Park on Saturday 14 September.

"It's going to be a tough start because Leeds are a quality side and a very professional outfit, but we feel more than ready following our meticulous preparations throughout pre-season."
