Pipped in the Rain

Nottingham Rugby agonisingly missed out on taking the spoils at Goldington Road, when they travelled to face Bedford Blues in the Greene King IPA Championship at the weekend.

Bedford Rain

The game was disrupted at half time due to the torrential rainfall which forced the second half kick off to be delayed by five minutes.

Nottingham went in at half time with a 6-3 lead, having started the game brightly, playing some great flowing rugby. The half time downpour changed the game.

In difficult conditions Bedford, playing down the slope in the second half, squeezed the game and came away eventual winners 14-9. The Green and Whites did come away with a losing bonus point for their efforts.

Alex Shaw was back in the starting line-up against Bedford, which was a great boost for the team. He reflected on the game today saying, "I enjoyed being back in the team. It was a great all round performance from the boys. We feel disappointed to only come away with a bonus point."

Next up for Nottingham Rugby, it's back to Meadow Lane and Friday Night Rugby when the Green and Whites host London Scottish on 31st January KO 8pm.
