Nottingham Sign Walker Until End of Season

Nottingham Rugby have secured the loan signing of Edinburgh Hooker Alun Walker until the end of the season.

The Scotland A front rower arrived at Meadow Lane on an initial one month loan deal to cover for the injured Shaun Malton.  With Malton's injury likely to keep him out long term, Martin Haag has moved quickly to bolster his squad.

Haag commented, "Alun has done well since he's been with us and he fits the bill in terms of the type of player that we needed.  He fits in well and is a good character and has shown in the matches he has played for us so far this season that he has a lot to offer.

"He works hard in training and the good thing is that he's got plenty of room for improvement.  He'll get more game time here which will help his development, so we're pleased to have him on board."

Walker had a spell out of the game with a hamstring injury that required surgery and he's pleased to have the chance to get some time on the pitch.

"After my operation I needed to get some more game time under the belt and this opportunity came along at just the right time.  There's a good bunch of lads here at the club and I've clicked well with them.  Nottingham is a good city to live in and I'm hoping that I can perform well down here and learn more of my trade.

"The Championship is very different to the Rabo Direct Pro 12.  It's a slower game but it's more physical.  It's very forward orientated so it's a good league in which to develop," said Walker.
