This week, ahead of the big game against high flying
Rotherham, Nottingham Rugby stars Sean Romans and Jon Vickers
joined Community Rugby coach Sam Bignall in coaching pupils at
Flintham Primary school in Newark.
Many of the pupil's are keen rugby players, with some being part
of the junior section at local club Newark RFC. New Zealander,
Romans, enjoyed taking part in the session and sharing rugby
playing experiences during a question and answer session.
He said, "It was good fun to join in with the class's rugby
session. The pupils were extremely well behaved. You could tell
some of them had played a bit of rugby before, some of their
passing was very impressive."
Green and White hooker Vickers, in his first season with the
club, found it rewarding going out into the community and enjoyed
engaging with the pupils from Flintham Primary.
"I actually joined in with the session and it was great fun.
They asked some great questions after the rugby session in the Q
& A. I was impressed with how enthusiastic they are towards
rugby," commented Vickers.
As well as going into school as part of the community programme,
Nottingham Rugby stars including Alun Walker and Ryan Hough have
been providing professional rugby expertise to local clubs
Mansfield RFC and Ashfield RFC.
Sunday sees Nottingham Rugby face Rotherham Titans at Meadow
Lane in an early kick off because of the 6 Nations. The 1pm Kick
off allows fans to cheer on the Green and Whites before staying at
the ground to watch the England V Wales 6 Nations clash in the
Meadow Lane Sports Bar.
