Nottingham Aiming to Bounce Back Against Pirates

Nottingham Rugby head to Penzance to face the Cornish Pirates on Sunday (23rd March) and will be determined to get things back on track after suffering their heaviest defeat of the season last time out.

The Green and Whites lost 51-7 at home to Rotherham the last time they took to the field and were beaten comprehensively by a very clinical side.  It was a result out of keeping with how competitive Nottingham have been in the majority of matches this season.

Head Coach Martin Haag said, "Last time out our defence wasn't good enough and certainly wasn't where it has been for large parts of this season.  It was a performance that wasn't really us and Rotherham were very clinical and deserved their victory.

"We've now put that result to bed and we need to show what we're made of, starting against the Pirates on Sunday.  They are a well drilled side and you have to be patient against them as they wait for their opportunity.  Their set piece is strong so our forwards will face a good challenge and overall their home form is very good.

"We'll take confidence from the match we played at Meadow Lane against them earlier in the season where we comfortable for the majority of the game.  We'll also take the lessons learned from that match in not allowing them the chance to get back into the game with how dangerous they can be.  It'll be a good match and I'll be looking for a good reaction from the lads."

Nottingham have made two changes to their pack with Alun Walker coming back in at hooker ahead of Jon Vickers while Rupert Cooper comes into the back row in place of the injured Brent Wilson.  Dan Montagu takes over the captaincy.

In the backs, George Catchpole comes in on the wing in place of Olly Woodburn.  Otherwise the backline is unchanged.
