Rugby is pleased to announce that Joe Munro has signed a new deal
with the club ahead of the 2014/15 season.
The Green and Whites confirmed their place in the Greene King
IPA Championship with victory over Moseley on Good Friday and have
been further boosted by Munro putting pen to paper.
Munro, 23, has been almost ever present for Nottingham
throughout their last two league campaigns, with only Dan Montagu
matching him for number of appearances this season.
In total, the former Loughborough University player has made 61
appearances for Nottingham, scoring four tries in the
process. He was in fine form against Moseley as he created
three of his side's four tries.
Commenting on his new deal, Munro said, "It's great to get my
future secured. Nottingham is a good place to be at the
moment and you can see as the season has gone on, that we are
building something here that I want to be a part of. I
believe we'll be a lot better next season which makes this an
exciting place to be.
"Nottingham has been great for my development and it's important
for me to keep developing. We've been through a transitional
year this year but I believe we'll be a lot stronger next year
because of this experience and the new additions will help with
"Having the game time I've had over the last couple of seasons
has been massive for me as you can't improve without minutes on the
pitch. The coaches have shown huge faith in me, and I'm very
thankful for that and it's excellent to know that I'll be
continuing with Nottingham."
Nottingham Head Coach Martin Haag said, "It's fantastic news
that Joe has signed on for another year. He's really starting
to develop as a player and is improving all the time. He's a
great leader and is very durable as shown in the number of games
he's played for us in the last two years. I'm excited to see
him flourish alongside the new players we've brought in. He's
an important part of the Nottingham family and it's great that he's
chosen to continue his career here with us."
The Green and Whites have also announced that five players will
be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Alex Shaw, Andrew Savage, Neilus Keogh, Joe Burton and Harrison
Lee-Everton will be moving on to new challenges.
Haag commented, "It's always sad to see players move on but all
of the players go with our thanks and best wishes for the
commitment they've shown to the club and the effort they've put
in. Alex and Andrew have been huge parts of the Nottingham
family for a number of seasons and have served the club with
"Harrison has been offered the chance to go and play in
Australia while Joe is going to be focusing on his studies.
They'll be starting new chapters in their careers and we're just
pleased that Nottingham Rugby was a part of their lives. We
truly wish them all the best for the future."
