Ed Styles, Keifer Laxton, Harry Williams and
Joe Burton are all new to Nottingham Rugby this season, but that's
not the only thing they have in common. They are all studying at
Ed Styles or 'Stylesy' as he's known by his new team
mates, played a major part in the opening day victory against
Leeds, showing his pace and footwork on the wing in a backline that
looked dangerous throughout the whole game.
He topped this with an excellent solo effort against
London Welsh on Sunday, chasing his own hack through to just get
the touch down before the Welsh defender.
Styles is currently studying Architectural
Engineering and Design management and has really enjoyed his time
at Nottingham Rugby so far saying, "The squad has a great
togetherness and the camaraderie between everyone is excellent. I
already knew Alex Shaw from our time together at Sale which has
helped me settle in."
Harry Williams is a big, powerful prop who takes no
prisoners at scrum time. He came off the bench against Leeds for
his first team debut as a Green and White.
London born Williams, who is studying Sport Science
and English, spoke fondly of his time at Nottingham Rugby so far,
saying, "I joined Nottingham because I wanted to take a step up in
the level I was playing. Last season I was playing for Loughborough
Students. There is a good vibe around the Nottingham team and I've
enjoyed the increase in professionalism that I've experienced here
Joe Burton is a big, ball carrying number eight
currently studying Business Economics and Finance, who previously
played at Premiership side London Wasps.
Speaking of his time as part of the Green and Whites,
Burton said, "I came to Nottingham to work hard and improve my
game. I feel I have already learnt a lot from the coaching staff
and the lads have made me feel very welcome, so it's been easy to
Keifer Laxton who is currently studying Sports
Science, is an open side flanker and a product of the Nottingham
Rugby Academy. Laxton was on the score sheet in pre-season against
his old teammates at Loughborough University.
"It was a great atmosphere playing against so many
friends from Uni, I really enjoyed the game and it was great to get
my first game for Nottingham," said Laxton.
