Finlay Returns

Four years ago Finlay Barnham joined Nottingham Rugby from Leicester Tigers Academy as a young, up and coming scrum half. Having been a regular member of the squad during his time with Nottingham Rugby, Barnham suffered a serious knee injury towards the end of last season "I injured by PCL in the final home league game of the season last year. I can remember the date, it was April 13th, I remember thinking that was unlucky!" Said Barnham, now back fighting fit and having started the last two league matches.

In his first start since coming back from injury the scrum half was an integral part of the recent win against Plymouth Albion at Meadow lane. Speaking about the match, Barnham said "I was pretty nervous myself having not started in such a long time. However I was more concerned about winning as a club, so I had to forget about my personal injury problem. This actually helped me focus better and I actually forgot about my own game as I was concentrating on the team, so I soon forgot about those nerves"

The Sports Science and Management graduate, from Loughborough University, is also enjoying some work experience this season as well as returning to the field of play, "I do one day a week at Turning point UK, as work experience. I am learning and gain valuable experience and they are also helping me in qualifying to be a chartered management accountant" explained Barnham. He went on to say "it's good to have a focus away from rugby. But nothing beats getting back on the pitch after being out with a long term injury. I've enjoyed being back involved in the team and I'm looking forward to building on the recent victories against Bedford and Plymouth"
