Campo in the Community

Fijian international prop Campese Ma'afu leant a helping hand to the Nottingham Rugby Community program last week.

Campo Flintham

Campo, as he's known by his teammates, explained what life as a Fijian International rugby player was like during a Q & A and joined in with the coaching session at Flintham Primary School in Newark.

It was the pupils last session of a six week tag rugby program, provided by the Nottingham Rugby Community program as part of the Rushcliffe partnership. The pupils learned a series of rugby skills and had the chance to tap into Campo's expertise and then showcase their own rugby skills as he joined in the rugby session.

Ma'afu commented, "The pupils were great and seemed to have a fantastic time. I was overwhelmed with questions about how many times I'd played for Fiji, how many games I'd won or tries I'd scored. It was great that they had loads of questions and were clearly interested in rugby. It's brilliant to get out into the community and spread positive messages about rugby in Nottingham."

Over 1000 pupils have benefited from rugby courses provided by Nottingham Rugby within the surrounding community since the beginning of the season.

An Easter Rugby Camp is being run by Nottingham Rugby Community program on the 9th, 10th and 11th of April at West Bridgford RFC. To book your child a place on the camp or for more details please call the Nottingham Rugby office on 0115 9070070.

The next Nottingham Rugby home game is on Good Friday, when the Green and Whites host Moseley on 18th April at Meadow Lane, KO 8pm.
