Jersey 17 vs Nottingham 13 - Match Preview

Nottingham Rugby takes on Jersey on Saturday (8th February) determined to continue where they left off in their last Greene King IPA Championship fixture, a 15-3 win over high-flying London Scottish.

Jersey Preview

The Green and Whites delivered one of the standout performances of their season to secure a victory against one of the league's form sides.  Nottingham's win was built on a solid defensive performance and an ability to deal with pressure in difficult conditions.

Nottingham Head Coach Martin Haag said, "I was very pleased with the effort the team put in against Scottish.  They kept their focus and intensity for the full 80 minutes which is something we've been aiming for.  We also kept our discipline which was crucial, as Scottish put us under a lot of pressure in the second half.  If we hadn't kept our composure then they would have had some relatively easy shots at goal or good positions for attacking set pieces.  A lot of credit goes to the team for not allowing that to happen."

The match against Jersey has been given the go ahead following a precautionary pitch inspection on Friday morning, following the severe rainfall experienced on the island recently.  Haag is expecting nothing short of another tough match.

He continued, "Jersey is a tough side to play against, particularly at home.  They have a good set of backs who like to throw the ball around and their set piece is a strong part of their game.

"We'll go there with the aim of playing to our strengths in the right areas of the pitch, knowing that we will have to be at our best to secure victory."

Haag has made just one change to his starting line-up for this weekend with Perry Humphreys coming in on the wing in place of Ed Styles, who moves to the bench.

There are a couple of changes amongst the replacements with Michael Holford and Tom Price named in place of Neilus Keogh and Kiefer Laxton.
